The nature is beautiful, multifarious, wise and strong. Light breeze on a broiling day gives you freshness, while snowstorm on a cold winter night makes you seek refuge. It all has the purpose. The nature is a fine tuned organism, and everything, including wind, has its important functions. The wind affects the formation of climate, directs the currents of the seas and oceans, spreads plant seeds many kilometers away.
Wind is the nature’s immense power. By harvesting the wind power people learnt to produce energy without contaminating the environment. Nowadays, there are over 20 000 wind farms all over the world. There are very few of them in Russia, but new ones are coming. Enel Russia is currently working on construction of three windfarms: Kola WPP with 201 MW of installed capacity in Murmansk region, Azov WPP with 90 MW of installed capacity in Rostov region and Rodnikovsky WPP with 71 MW of installed capacity in Stavropol region.
Towers, nacelles and blades for future Azov WPP wind turbines have already arrived on site. On the site of future Kola WPP construction of access roads needed to deliver materials have been completed, preparatory and excavation works are ongoing, metal elements and construction materials have been already partially delivered on site. Rodnikovsky WPP is in design phase now.
Future Technologies and Permanent Beauty of Nature
Scientific and technological progress mades it possible to produce electricity using wind power and minimizing negative impact on the environment. Renewable energy sources, environmental friendliness, digitalization and effectiveness are the key principles of the new energy transition followed by Enel Russia.
Windfarms are the examples of green generation which allow to satisfy the growing energy consumption needs and to decrease negative impact on the environment. Windfarms are able to solve global environmental climate-related issues. Wind generation has excellent CO2 emissions reduction performance. Our windfarms will help to avoid more than 1.1 mln tons of CO2 emissions annually.
Great Opportunities of Wind Power Engineering
It is hard to deny the power of wind. To tame this huge natural force one needs really strong and powerful structures. Modern wind turbines inspire confidence: huge towers, rotating blades of incredible sizes, as well as multi-ton hubs and nacelles. Wind turbines can be rightfully considered a beautiful and powerful piece of architecture.
On June 15, the wold will celebrate the International Day of Wind which turns attention of people to the great potential of wind energy. WPPs have immense opportunities, we have no doubts!
