Inspired by wind

For centuries, people have been trying to find contact with nature: living in harmony with it and carefully using the resources and opportunities that it provides. Use minerals in pharmacy, construction of houses, manufacture of equipment. Use peat, coal, gas to generate electricity.

But natural resources are not infinite. Once, people began to think about the preservation of natural resources and comfortable conditions for themselves. Use of natural phenomena: wind power, solar, falling water and other renewable energy sources was the right solution. These nature opportunities are inexhaustible.

We are aware of the responsible attitude to natural resources; therefore, we are working on the development of "green" generation projects.

One of the main steps in this direction was the first stone laying ceremony inaugurating the construction of the first wind farm for Enel Russia and the Rostov Region.

Honored guests attending the event demonstrated the significance of the event: the General Director of PJSC Enel Russia Carlo Palasciano Villamagna, the Governor of the Rostov Region Vasily Golubev and the Ambassador of Italy Pasquale Terracciano.

“Today, at the ceremony inaugurating the construction of the Azov Wind Farm, we all are witnessing the historical event both for Enel Russia and for the whole renewable energy sector in the country”

– Carlo Palasciano Villamagna, General Director of PJSC Enel Russia

The Azov Wind Farm will be located on the territory of 133 hectares. Enel Green Power, a division of Enel Group responsible for the development and operation of renewable energy facilities around the world, will carry out the construction of the wind farm.

After commissioning the wind farm in 2020, approximately 300 GWh of clean power will be supplied to the power system of Russia per year. In addition, if this amount of power was generated by conventional generation, about 260 ths tons of carbon dioxide would have been discharged into the atmosphere. During the operation of the wind farm that, by the way, will consist of 26 wind turbines, it will be possible to avoid the release of this volume of carbon dioxide into the environment.

Several wind power projects will be implemented in the Don region. Enel Russia project was the first to be launched at the construction site.

“Today, the Rostov Region is taking another step towards remaining the power generation leader in southern Russia. Almost all the main types of power generation have so far been available in the Don region, and we are expanding this list with "green" generation. For our Italian partner, we will try to create the most favorable conditions to make the time of project implementation positive and effective”

– Vasily Golubev, the Governor of the Rostov Region

The project of the Azov Wind Farm construction is on the list of the Governor's top 100 priority investment projects of the Rostov Region and is recognized as a large-scale investment project. Investments of Enel Russia in project implementation will amount to 132 mln Euro.

“Today is a great day, and the present event stands out as a bright example of one of the ways in which Italy may contribute to Russia’s transition to green energy sources by means of its technologies and know-how. Enel is a leading Italian investor in the Russian Federation, and effective cooperation with the Rostov region would surely become a powerful stimulus for all Italian companies willing to invest in this region”

– Pasquale Terracciano, the Ambassador of Italy

Like Enel Group, we are currently contributing to the energy transition and the transformation of our business in Russia. Developing new areas of power generation, mapping new regions of our presence in Russia, we contribute to the sustainable future of the territories.
