Enel Russia signs two important agreements focused on innovation

Moscow, October 27, 2016 — Today, Enel Russia signed two important agreements aimed at promoting and developing innovations in Russia. The first Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed with Skolkovo Foundation within the framework of Moscow International Forum for Innovative Development «Open Innovations» while the second agreement has been signed with the Association of Clusters and Technoparks within the framework of the conference «Industrial Russia 4.0: Mechanisms of Advanced Development».

The signings testify the importance of innovations as a main driver of sustainable business for Enel Russia. Implementation of innovations in technological processes is a key activity of Enel Group. The company gradually implements all the international practices in Russia as well.

Within the framework of Moscow International Forum for Innovative Development «Open Innovations», Enel Russia Board of Directors Chairman Stephane Zweguintzow and Vice-President, Executive Director of Energy Efficiency Cluster of Skolkovo Foundation Nikolay Grachev signed a MoU which intends to consolidate the basic objectives of the strategic cooperation already in place between the two parties. The Memorandum includes among collaboration initiatives full expert support to innovation projects at all stages of implementation and the introduction of high-tech solutions developed by Russian innovative companies in the energy industry. Areas of cooperation include, but are not limited to, traditional generation and renewables, energy efficiency, smart home and smart grids technologies, as well as the best available technologies, applicable in these areas. All the projects are aimed at the boosting the development of a socially-oriented and innovation-driven national economy. In addition, within the framework of cooperation a number of workshops and seminars on innovation management, exchange of experience and training in the field of innovations are planned. In particular, Enel Russia is interested in the possibility to organize internships with students of Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology «Skoltech», as well as in leveraging on the Institute researches in order to undertake activities on the main topics of this agreement.

Within the framework of the Conference «Industrial Russia 4.0: Mechanisms of Advanced Development», held in the industrial technopark «Calibre», Enel Russia’s Chairman Stephane Zweguintzow and the Director of the Association of Clusters and Technoparks Andrey Shpilenko signed a MoU for cooperating in the analysis of and sharing information on possible innovative projects and breakthrough technologies that may be the subject of future development within the activities of the parties.

The companies intend to hold workshops, seminars and lectures in order to develop corporate management systems for technoparks, introduce modern systems of work with personnel, staff trainings, adapt and incorporate the best Russian and foreign practices of building an effective innovation infrastructure of technoparks. In addition, special attention will be given at the creation of a national ranking of technoparks in Russia in the field of technology, as well as innovative sector database analysis.

On July 7th, 2009 by the resolution of Annual General Shareholders’ Meeting the company was renamed OJSC Enel OGK-5 and on August 8th, 2014 the Federal Tax Service registered the new version of the company’s charter with the name OJSC Enel Russia. On June 25th, 2015 the company changed its legal type and was renamed PJSC Enel Russia.
