Enel has been included for the seventh straight year in the STOXX Global ESG Leaders index, which ranks companies with the highest environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance. The ranking was compiled based on the research delivered by Sustainalytics, a leading independent global provider of ESG and corporate governance research and ratings to investors. Enel’s Spanish subsidiary Endesa was also confirmed in the index once again.
The index acknowledged Enel’s outstanding performance in implementing responsible business practices in the fields of environment management, biodiversity, corporate governance, business ethics, health and safety, as well as human capital development, among others. Enel is implementing these business practices recognized by STOXX Global ESG Leader index throughout the entire value chain in all countries where it is present.
A concrete example of such implementation is the sustainable plant model that Enel is developing in its renewable power plants in order to minimize the environmental impact of operation and maintenance activities while creating value for local communities through the launching of sustainable activities involving them, hence fostering long-term relationships with stakeholders through a creating shared value (CSV) approach. Enel is also present in several other renowned sustainability indices as well as rankings, such as the MSCI ESG Leaders Indices, Dow Jones Sustainability Indices, CDP Climate “A” List, the Euronext Vigeo-Eiris 120 indices, the FTSE4Good Index series, the ISS “Prime” rating, the Bloomberg Gender Equality Index, the Corporate Knights Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World ranking, the ECPI indices and the Thomson Reuters/S-Network ESG Best Practices Indices.
