Enel Green Power (EGP)’s customer, brewing company Anheuser-Busch will offset 100% of the electricity consumed in Atlanta, Georgia, for six days leading up to and during the championship game, or Super Bowl week (January 29th – February 3rd) with renewable credits from the emission-free energy produced by EGP’s Thunder Ranch wind farm in Oklahoma. Featuring Anheuser-Busch among its sponsors, the championship game of the US National Football League, more commonly known as the Super Bowl, is the country’s largest sporting event of the year, and will be held in Atlanta on Sunday, February 3rd. The renewable energy credits from Thunder Ranch will be supplied to the city’s Super Bowl Host Committee.
The partnership between EGP and Anheuser-Busch began in 2017, when the two companies signed a long-term power purchase agreement, whereby Anheuser-Busch is buying the energy delivered to the grid and renewable credits from a 152.5 MW portion of EGP’s 298 MW Thunder Ranch wind farm. This purchase of renewable electricity is equivalent to the energy used to brew more than 20 billion 33 cl. servings of beer each year and is capable of meeting up to 50% of Anheuser-Busch’s total annual purchased electricity.
