“By partnering with ETCR, we are strengthening our technological leadership in the international motorsport world, confirming our ability to design innovative solutions that can fully adapt to the diverse needs of racing championships. Our collaborations within the world of electric motorsports allow us to develop and test new solutions for electric racing vehicles that can then be replicated on the street for everyday use, with the aim to boost technological innovation in electric mobility and to improve the overall electric vehicle experience.”
“Enel X is a leading company in the development of strategies and products for sustainable mobility worldwide. Having secured their support for the supply of chargers tailored to ETCR cars makes us really proud. The experience they have already gained through their involvement in other motorsport categories speaks for itself and we are very much looking forward to establishing a long and successful collaboration with them.”
This initiative adds to the partnerships that Enel X already has in place with the fully-electric single-seater racing series FIA Formula E and fully-electric motorcycle circuit championship MotoE. The collaboration with ETCR reinforces the leading role of Enel X in the growing world of electric motorsports, extending and diversifying the range of high-power mobile charging solutions that Enel X develops for electric vehicle racing championship competitions.
Enel X will provide two types of fast DC charging stations specifically developed for the ETCR championship: a single 60 kW connector charger and a double connector charger with two 60 kW outputs that is able to deliver 120 kW when only one output is engaged. The chargers, which are integrated in customized wheeled boxes, will be completely movable and able to charge the ETCR vehicles in under one hour.
ETCR is the new international touring car racing motorsport platform, which involves electric vehicles which are technically upgraded and customized for racing. ETCR will have a global footprint across Europe, Asia and Americas, with the constitution, in the next three years, of further regional championships parallel to the world series.
Enel X is Enel's global business line dedicated to the development of innovative products and digital solutions in sectors where energy is showing the greatest potential for transformation: cities, homes, industries and electric mobility. The company is a global leader in demand management with a demand management capacity of more than 6 GW globally managed and assigned in the Americas, Europe, Asia, and Oceania.
ETCR was conceived and launched by WSC Group Limited, founded in 2000 by Marcello Lotti. WSC is active in car racing as a promoter and rule-maker. Working together with FIA, WSC helped to successfully revive the World and European Touring Car championships between 2001 and 2013. Then, in 2014 WSC launched TCR that in four years has completely reshaped Touring Car competitions at a global level.
